Quinn Perry, who suited up for the high school All Americans, USA U20s, and, last year, Santa Monica, is leaving rugby for the moment to play football at the University of Colorado.

Perry, who is a talented fullback and flyhalf, was FloRugby's Samurai PRP Player Of The Week last March 29. He is a powerful runner, intelligent distributor, and can kick.

He can also hit, as he played linebacker in high school, and was also an all-league punter. At 6-2 (sometimes 6-3), 240, he's actually a little big for a flyhalf, but he should fit in nicely with the Buffs' plans. Having completed two years of football at El Camino Junior College, Perry has two years of football eligibility left.

He was visiting colleges at the end of the fall looking for a spot, and also was entertaining an offer from the University of Hawaii as well as Old Dominion, UT San Antonio, and others.

He likely has three years of college rugby left, as well, but it's a question whether he will be able to play. Some rugby players who have switched to football for college have been able to do both. Some have stayed with football, while others have come back to rugby.

Thretton Palamo, Psalm Wooching, and Paul Lasike were rugby players who moved to football and then back to rugby after college (or a stint in the pros). Others, such as Haloti Ngata and Nate Ebner, stuck with football and made successful pro careers out of it.
