Women's Playoff Teams

Air Force, Sam Houston, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Davenport, and UConn form the list of quarterfinalists with Navy, Northeastern, Michigan State, and Kent State all in play-ins.

More on Michigan State.

Air Force, Notre Dame, and UConn have all been in the finals before, while Davenport is a multi-year D2 champion. Davenport has already beaten Notre Dame this season, and while the Panthers lost to Lindenwood and Penn State in recent weeks, that doesn't mean they can't win big in this group.

Air Force has been excellent and defeated a very tough Utah State team to make it to the playoffs.

Men's Playoff Teams

Meanwhile, for the men, it's going to be a Round of Eight. Kentucky won the SCRC and will take a seed, but only one. SCRC runners up Alabama won't be part of the playoffs as the conference asked for only one seed.

The Ivy League will not participate, as finals may get in the way. Lindenwood-Belleville has (as previously reported on FloRugby) done enough to warrant a place as an at-large team. The other three conferences get two seeds:

Mid-Atlantic (#1 is St. Joe's and #2 West Chester)

Mid-Americans (Bowling Green and Western Michigan). This weekend determines who is 1st and who is 2nd.

Chesapeake (#1 is Mary Washington and, in all probability, Salisbury). Salisbury is waiting for this weekend's Mary Washington vs James Madison game. JMU has to win with a bonus point to take the #2 seed. If that doesn't happen (and chances are it won't), Salisbury is the #2.

Mary Washington has every incentive, by the way, to put its best foot forward, as seedings could well depend on this game. Should UMW end conference play with a 6-1 record, as opposed to 7-0, the Mothers might drop down.
