CSU Standout Freshman Trump Transferring To UMW
Daniel Trump is transferring to Mary Washington after a standout freshman fall for Colorado State.

Daniel Trump, who helped lead Fort Hunt (VA) to a national high school club runner-up finish in 2017 and has been one of the most influential freshmen in college rugby while at Colorado State, is transferring to Mary Washington.
Trump and fellow flanker Joe Rusert-Cuddy became starters on the CSU team as freshmen this season and played key roles in the Rams winning the Rocky Mountain Conference.

A former High School All-American and North American Lion select player, Trump will join fellow For Hunt alum Benn Mellinger at Marry Washington, which has a strong connection to the Virginia-based high school club.
The reasons for the change were mostly financial. The cost at Colorado State was becoming a burden, and Trump told FloRugby that getting in-state tuition at UMW, which is located in Fredericksburg, VA, made financial sense.
"I loved my time at Colorado State," Trump said. "I loved playing for the team and with a great group of guys—really great friendships and just a great overall experience. I did well there in school, and the bonds and camaraderie on the team was something that was amazing to me."
However, Trump needed to make the change and is in fact back in Virginia for the spring. CSU head coach Rod Hartley was supportive of the move, said Trump.
"He's a great coach and a great person and he understood my situation completely," Trump said. "I am excited to enroll at Mary Washington. I still want to play high-level rugby, and this will allow me to do that."
Trump said he plans to major in political science with an eye toward law school after that.
