Who Does Scotland Play In The 2026 November Internationals?
Scotland faces New Zealand, Australia and Japan during November as the inaugural Nations Championship reaches its final three regular-season rounds.
With France, Scotland, England and Ireland separated by just two championship points, every result could have a significant impact on the race for the Grand Final.
Scotland vs. New Zealand Rugby: Nov. 7
Scotland opens its November Nations Championship schedule against New Zealand on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
Kickoff is scheduled for 9:10 a.m. ET.
The All Blacks enter November unbeaten in the Nations Championship after winning all three July matches against Northern Hemisphere opponents.
New Zealand defeated France 34-32, Italy 47-17 and Ireland 40-21 during the opening three rounds, collecting 15 championship points.
The All Blacks are second in the Southern Hemisphere standings, tied with South Africa on championship points but trailing the Springboks on points difference.
New Zealand also enters November after defeating Australia twice in the Bledisloe Cup, winning 50-19 at Eden Park and 43-21 in Sydney.
For Scotland, the opening fixture represents one of the toughest possible starts to the November window. A victory would provide a significant boost to the Scots' Grand Final ambitions while potentially damaging New Zealand's own championship hopes.
Scotland vs. Australia Rugby: Nov. 15
Scotland hosts Australia on Sunday, Nov. 15, at Scottish Gas Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
Kickoff is scheduled for 10:10 a.m. ET.
The Wallabies enter November third in the Southern Hemisphere standings with eight championship points following a 1-2 record in July.
Australia lost to Ireland 33-31 and France 42-26 before finishing the July series with a 57-10 victory over Italy.
Head coach Les Kiss' team also enters November after consecutive October defeats to New Zealand in the Bledisloe Cup. Australia's November squad features captain Harry Wilson, Len Ikitau, Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii and returning fly-half Carter Gordon.
For Scotland, the second November match could prove decisive in its pursuit of first place in the Northern Hemisphere standings.
With France beginning November one point ahead of Scotland, bonus points and points difference could become increasingly important as the competition approaches its final round.
Scotland vs. Japan Rugby: Nov. 21
Scotland concludes the regular rounds against Japan on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
Kickoff is scheduled for 9:10 a.m. ET.
Japan enters November fifth in the Southern Hemisphere standings with four championship points after winning one of its three July matches.
The Brave Blossoms defeated Italy 27-10 in their Nations Championship opener before losing to Ireland 36-20 and France 42-15.
Head coach Eddie Jones' team subsequently won the 2026 Pacific Nations Cup, defeating Fiji 20-15 in the final. However, Japan lost a rematch against Fiji 34-28 on Oct. 24 in Tokyo.
Scotland's final regular-season match could determine whether the Scots qualify for the inaugural Grand Final or compete in a placement match during Finals Weekend.
Only the first-place Northern Hemisphere team advances to the championship match, making the final round potentially decisive for Townsend's squad.
Scotland Rugby 2026 Nations Championship Results
Scotland finished the July Nations Championship window with 11 championship points, placing it second in the Northern Hemisphere standings.
The Scots recorded two victories in their opening three matches, including a win over Fiji, before entering November just one point behind France.
Those results put Scotland among the leading contenders for the Northern Hemisphere's place in the inaugural Grand Final.
Where Is Scotland In The 2026 Nations Championship Standings?
Scotland enters November second in the Northern Hemisphere standings with 11 championship points.
France leads with 12 points, followed by Scotland with 11. England and Ireland each have 10, while Wales has five and Italy has zero.
Northern Hemisphere Standings Entering November
- France: 12 points (2-1)
- Scotland: 11 points (2-1)
- England: 10 points (2-1)
- Ireland: 10 points (2-1)
- Wales: 5 points (1-2)
- Italy: 0 points (0-3)
Scotland can earn a maximum of 15 additional championship points during November by winning all three matches and collecting a try-scoring bonus point in each.
However, three victories would not automatically guarantee Scotland a place in the Grand Final if France matches or exceeds its championship-points total.
If teams finish level on championship points, the tiebreakers begin with total victories, followed by points difference, tries difference and total tries scored.
Scotland must finish first in the Northern Hemisphere standings to qualify for the Grand Final.
How Does The 2026 Nations Championship Work?
The inaugural Nations Championship features 12 international rugby teams divided into Northern and Southern Hemisphere groups.
England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales represent the Northern Hemisphere. Argentina, Australia, Fiji, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa make up the Southern Hemisphere.
Each country plays six regular-season matches against teams from the opposite hemisphere, with three rounds in July and three in November.
Teams earn four championship points for a victory and two for a draw. They also can earn one bonus point for scoring at least four tries and another for losing by seven points or fewer.
After six rounds, the teams are ranked within their respective hemispheres.
The first-place teams from each hemisphere advance to the Nations Championship Grand Final, while the remaining countries play placement matches against opponents finishing in the corresponding position in the opposite hemisphere.
All 12 countries will compete during Finals Weekend in London.
When Is The 2026 Nations Championship Final?
The inaugural Nations Championship Grand Final takes place Sunday, Nov. 29, at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham, London.
Kickoff is scheduled for 11:40 a.m. ET.
The championship match will feature the first-place Northern Hemisphere team against the first-place Southern Hemisphere team after six regular-season rounds. There are no semifinals.
Scotland enters November one point behind Northern Hemisphere leader France. To reach the Grand Final, the Scots must overtake France and finish ahead of England, Ireland, Wales and Italy.
Regardless of its final position, Scotland will compete during Finals Weekend from Nov. 27-29.
