Who Does France Play In The 2026 Nations Championship?

France faces Fiji, South Africa and Argentina in November as the inaugural Nations Championship reaches its final three regular-season rounds.

The schedule includes a matchup against the unbeaten Springboks, who enter November leading the Southern Hemisphere standings, and a final-round meeting with Argentina that could determine France's Grand Final hopes.

France vs. Fiji Rugby: Nov. 7

France opens its November Nations Championship schedule against Fiji on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Groupama Stadium in Lyon.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. ET.

Fiji enters November sixth in the Southern Hemisphere standings with zero championship points after losing all three July Nations Championship matches. The Flying Fijians suffered defeats against Wales, England and Scotland during the opening three rounds, finishing the July window with a minus-96 points difference.

Fiji has since made a coaching change, appointing former South Africa coach Jake White on Oct. 13. The team also defeated Japan 34-28 on Oct. 24, providing momentum ahead of the November internationals.

France enters the matchup as the Northern Hemisphere leader and has an opportunity to strengthen its position before facing South Africa and Argentina. A victory would earn four championship points, while scoring at least four tries would provide an additional bonus point.

With Scotland beginning November just one point behind France, the opening match could have important implications for the race to the Grand Final.

France vs. South Africa Rugby: Nov. 13

France hosts South Africa on Friday, Nov. 13, at Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. ET.

The Springboks enter November first in the Southern Hemisphere standings with 15 championship points after winning all three July Nations Championship matches. South Africa defeated England 45-21, Scotland 42-28 and Wales 43-0 during the opening three rounds, finishing the July series with a plus-81 points difference.

The Springboks are tied with New Zealand on championship points but hold first place through their superior points difference.

For France, the matchup represents one of the biggest challenges of the November international window.

Both teams enter November in first place in their respective hemispheres, raising the possibility that the Stade de France meeting could serve as a preview of the inaugural Nations Championship Grand Final.

A French victory would strengthen Les Bleus' position in the Northern Hemisphere standings while potentially affecting South Africa's battle with New Zealand for the Southern Hemisphere's championship berth.

With Scotland, England and Ireland all within two points of France entering November, the result could be crucial to the hosts' hopes of reaching the final.

France vs. Argentina Rugby: Nov. 21

France concludes the regular rounds against Argentina on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Stade de France.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. ET.

Argentina enters November fourth in the Southern Hemisphere standings with seven championship points after winning one of its three July matches.

The Pumas opened the Nations Championship with a 47-38 loss to Scotland before defeating Wales 35-21. Argentina then lost to England 31-24 in its final July fixture.

Head coach Felipe Contepomi's team also added Shaun Edwards to its coaching staff ahead of the November international window.

Argentina's ability to challenge leading Northern Hemisphere opponents makes the final-round matchup an important test for France.

Depending on results in the opening two November rounds, France could enter the match needing a victory, a bonus point or a favorable points difference to secure first place in the Northern Hemisphere standings.

Only the first-place team from each hemisphere qualifies for the Grand Final, making the final regular-season match potentially decisive.

  6. Italy: 0 points (0-3)

France can earn a maximum of 15 additional championship points during November by winning all three matches and collecting a try-scoring bonus point in each.

Three victories would put France in a strong position to reach the Grand Final, but Scotland, England and Ireland remain close enough to challenge for first place.

Only the first-place Northern Hemisphere team advances to the championship match.

How Does The 2026 Nations Championship Work?

The inaugural Nations Championship features 12 international rugby teams divided into Northern and Southern Hemisphere groups.

England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales represent the Northern Hemisphere. Argentina, Australia, Fiji, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa make up the Southern Hemisphere.

Each country plays six regular-season matches against teams from the opposite hemisphere, with three rounds in July and three in November.

Teams earn four championship points for a victory and two for a draw. They also can earn one bonus point for scoring at least four tries and another for losing by seven points or fewer.

After six rounds, the teams are ranked within their respective hemispheres.

The first-place teams from each hemisphere advance to the Nations Championship Grand Final, while the remaining countries play placement matches against opponents finishing in the corresponding position in the opposite hemisphere.

All 12 countries will compete during Finals Weekend in London.

When Is The 2026 Nations Championship Final?

The inaugural Nations Championship Grand Final takes place Sunday, Nov. 29, at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham, London.

Kickoff is scheduled for 11:40 a.m. ET.

The championship match will feature the first-place Northern Hemisphere team against the first-place Southern Hemisphere team after six regular-season rounds.

There are no semifinals.

France enters November first in the Northern Hemisphere standings, but Les Bleus must remain there through Round 6 to qualify for the Grand Final.

With Scotland just one point behind and England and Ireland two points back, France's results against Fiji, South Africa and Argentina will determine whether it reaches the inaugural championship match.

Regardless of its final position, France will compete during Finals Weekend from Nov. 27-29.
