After 15 years as the coach of Saracens Rugby, Mark McCall is stepping down as the director of rugby for the club and Brendan Venter will step into the role.
With six PREM titles and three European Champions Cups since 2011, McCall is widely considered one the best coaches in PREM history.

Saracens Rugby
For 15 years, Mark McCall and the Saracens have been the face of PREM Rugby. Despite a 38-17 loss to Exeter that kept the Saracens out of the playoffs, the club still remains one of the premiere teams in the world.
A transition to the younger generation of players still has the Saracens set up for success down the road. The transition to Venter could be unsuccessful, and who knows what the future holds for the director of rugby position.
Crusaders Rugby
Rob Penney has stepped down as the coach of the Crusaders, transitioning the job to former All Blacks assistant coach Scott Hansen.
The Crusaders pedigree is unmatched in the Super Rugby Pacific, and remains one of the top destinations for a coach in all of club rugby. They will face the Chiefs in the semifinal in what could be Penney’s last game.
Depending on how Hansen performs with the club, the Crusaders job could open back up, which would be an enticing job for any coach.
Saitama Wild Knights
The Saitama Wild Knights long-time head coach Robie Deans has moved on, signing with the Harlequins of the PREM as their performance director for the 2026-2027 season.
Atsushi Kanazawa took over as head coach for the club, but one of the top teams in Japan Rugby League One and all of club rugby could choose to look in a different direction. The team features multiple high profile players and is a top destination for any coach in rugby.
Toulouse Rugby
Ugo Mola has been the coach for Stade Toulousain, who finished first in the Top 14, since 2015. They have set the standard over the past 11 years for club rugby in France.
The job remains one of the top in all of club rugby. Could Mola move on from the dynasty he helped create in France? If Mola makes the unprecedented move to leave Toulouse Rugby, it would be one of the most sought-after jobs in the sport.
