Jack Walsh arrived at the Ospreys with little fanfare, but the USA-born, Australia-raised back has quickly become one of the region’s most influential overseas signings.
Since joining from Exeter in 2022, Walsh has followed in the footsteps of imports like Jerry Collins and Tommy Bowe, establishing himself as a key figure in the squad. His versatility — able to play both fullback and fly-half — combined with strong playmaking, durability and goal-kicking has seen him rack up 232 points and 11 tries in 76 appearances.

Head coach Mark Jones praised Walsh’s professionalism and leadership, emphasizing the club’s desire to retain the 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Walsh’s journey has taken him from Florida to Sydney’s Manly suburb, through the Waratahs system and on to Exeter before landing in South Wales. Since arriving, he has found both consistency and a sense of belonging.
“I came here to play games and I’ve been able to do that,” Walsh said. “To play 70-plus games for a club like this is special.”
He has also embraced life in Wales and the challenges of the URC, where varying conditions and styles demand adaptability.
Now, Walsh could be on the verge of an even bigger step, with Wales eligibility looming through residency. For a player who arrived as an unknown, his rise has been anything but.
