Glasgow vs. Toulouse Leads Champions Cup Pool 1 Round 2 Play | ICC Preview
Round 2 features Toulouse vs. Glasgow in a pivotal Pool 1 clash, plus key battles for Saracens, Sharks, Clermont and Sale. Here’s what to know this weekend.
In a round full of big matches — with some teams seeking momentum and others redemption after Round 1 — the second week of the Investec Champions Cup may not have a more consequential matchup than the one in Pool 1.
Toulouse, or Stade Toulousain, brought back Antoine Dupont a week before the Champions Cup from a knee injury that kept him out eight months. So far, the best scrumhalf in the world has looked like the best scrumhalf in the world.
Toulouse has dominated the first two matches with Dupont coming off the bench.

The six-time Champions Cup winners picked up a bonus point in their win over the Hollywoodbets Sharks, winning 56-19 and scoring eight tries — more than any other club in Round 1.
But the Glasgow Warriors were arguably just as impressive in Round 1.
The Warriors trailed 12-0 after the first 20 minutes of their match against the Sale Sharks and reeled off 26 unanswered points to win 26-21 at CorpAcq Stadium in Sale.
Winning on the road in the Champions Cup is a good way to not only advance to the Round of 16, but to ensure fewer road games once a club gets there.
Toulouse is the favorite in this match and is the favorite to win the whole competition, but Glasgow is arguably the toughest place to play in all of club rugby, as coach Franco Smith has made Scotstoun Stadium a fortress since taking over.
The winner of this match likely will control the pool and receive a top seed in the Round of 16.
While Toulouse will have a tricky match in January at StoneX Stadium against Saracens, a trip to Glasgow was always its toughest of pool play.
Glasgow, meanwhile, already took a road match and earned the bonus point, meaning the Warriors — even after one round — are in position to reach the Round of 16.
The entire competition will be watching at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, and waiting to see just how worried they need to be about Toulouse and just how hard it is to play in Glasgow.
But it’s not the only match of the pool. Here’s a look at Pool 1 in Round 2 of the Champions Cup:

Clermont vs. Sale Sharks — 10:15 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13
The Sale Sharks missed an opportunity when they led by two tries against the Warriors at home and now are in desperate need to take a road game. But with both of those matches coming in France, it’s a tough task.
Clermont, meanwhile, was demolished in its opening Champions Cup bout against Saracens, 47-10, as the English club indeed flexed on the French side.
Four teams will reach the Round of 16 in this pool, and the race for that fourth spot will be battled out in Clermont, Sale and Durban, South Africa.
Hollywoodbets Sharks vs. Saracens — 10:15 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13
The Sharks certainly are missing their Springboks, but they should get relief in this match at home.
FloRugby analyst Philip Bendon expects the Sharks to have their healthy top players back, though World Rugby Player of the Year finalist Ox Nché’s status is unclear after his injury during the Autumn international window. Ebene Etzebeth is still suspended, but star Siya Kolisi should return.
They’ll need them.
Saracens may be traveling to the South African summer, but the Sarries are expected to leave their top team in England.
No club will be watching the Toulouse–Glasgow match more closely than Saracens. The team's next match in the Champions Cup is hosting Toulouse, and Saracens has to travel to Glasgow in Round 4.
