What To Expect From Antoine Dupont In Return vs. Racing 92
ACL recovery has gone a long way over the decades. Rugby star Antoine Dupont will be the next star to attempt it.
French rugby star Antoine Dupont, who in 2024 was the No. 1-ranked player in the world according to FloRugby and remains the No. 2 player on our list in 2025, returns to the field for the first time since March at 3 p.m. ET on Nov. 29.
Dupont will begin the match on the bench for Toulouse, which is hosting Racing 92 in the Top 14 Round 11 match.
Toulouse, the defending Top 14 champion, is the best team in the league so far with a two-point advantage over Pau in the standings entering the round.

That type of cushion means there’s no need for Dupont to rescue his team from a poor season. Toulouse has been more than stable without its best player. But still, this is Dupont — who before the injury, was playing the best rugby of his career.

Toulouse Is Going To Take It Slow
Dupont is not starting against Racing 92 in his first match back. Unless something changes before the contest, Paul Graou is wearing No. 9 for Toulouse, and Dupont will be a substitute.
Expect Some Rust For Antoine Dupont… Or Not?
Once Dupont is on the field, it’s fair to expect some rust from the scrumhalf. Then again, maybe not.
Forwards coach Jean Bouilhou told reporters that Dupont had no trouble returning to training.
“He’s such a talented, top-level player with a sort of authority over the game,” Bouilhou told reporters. “We’ve found the Antoine we had left. I think he quickly regains his sensations. I think he’s fit to play.”
Bouilhou also said Dupont looked like he did before the injury.
Antoine Dupont Has Done This Before
Dupont tore his ACL in 2018 in the same knee, so he has experience recovering from this injury.
How Long Is A Typical ACL Recovery?
It usually takes between nine and 12 months for a player to return from an ACL injury, so Dupont is roughly on that timeline, albeit a little earlier.
