Rugby Today: Autumn Week 2 Preview & Picks

As time expired at Allianz Stadium on Nov.8, another match in the Autumn Nations Series is in the books, with No.4-ranked England taking a victory over No.9 Fiji, 38-18.

The match got off to a slow start, boasting a back-and-forth defensive battle for the first five minutes.

In the sixth minute, England found the try line to score its first points of the contest.

The Flying Fijians responded three minutes later with their first try, and that was the story of the first half.

The clubs went back and forth until the halftime break, where England led the way, 14-13.

Coming back for the final 40 minutes, England went on a tear and never took its foot off the gas.

Scoring 24 points in the second half, capitalizing on two Fiji yellow cards and a defensive effort that shut down Fiji, England cruised to the victory.

The final stats showed England besting Fiji with six tries to the Fijians three.

The victors also were able to successfully make four conversions in the match.

Fin Smith was a key contributor for England, with all four conversions being credited to his stat line.

Tevita Ikanivere was the leading player for the Flying Fijians, tallying two scores on his stat sheet. Caleb Muntz also was a key contributor for Fiji with a try and a penalty goal.
