South Africa and Argentina will renew their rivalry Saturday at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham, with both teams bringing momentum and pressure into the final stretch of The Rugby Championship. 

The Springboks, winners of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, have largely dominated Los Pumas over the last decade, but Argentina’s recent home success has given this clash added intrigue.

Argentina has alternated between wins and losses in its last seven tests. That run included a 67-30 loss to South Africa, and in two of those matches ,Los Pumas led at halftime before eventually losing.

South Africa’s Consistent Winning Record

Since lifting the 2023 Rugby World Cup, South Africa has won 17 of 21 tests — an 81% win rate, the highest among teams in either The Rugby Championship or Six Nations.

Strong Away Form For The Springboks

South Africa has won 11 of its last 13 tests outside of South Africa, including four of the team's last five matches. 

The Springboks have scored more than 40 points in two of their last three away games.

Offload Leaders In 2025

South Africa averages 9.2 offloads per game in this year’s Rugby Championship, at least two more than any other team. 

Pieter-Steph du Toit leads all players with seven offloads and is the only player with multiple try assists from offloads.

Dominance In Meters Gained

South Africa has gained the most meters per game (481), while conceding the fewest (302). 

The Springboks are +897 meters overall, while Argentina (+8) is the only other side to have gained more than it has conceded.

Mateo Carreras’ Tackle-Breaking Ability

Argentina’s Mateo Carreras leads the competition with 17 tackle breaks. His 2.9 tackle breaks per game over his Rugby Championship career are the most by any Los Pumas player in tournament history.

Cheslin Kolbe’s Impact

South Africa’s Cheslin Kolbe has three tries and five line breaks in his last two tests. He also has scored one try in each of his last two games against Argentina, with five line breaks and eight tackle breaks, combined, in those meetings.

Argentina faces South Africa at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham. The match will be refereed by Andrea Piardi. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. ET.
