The Saracens sit at the top of the PREM Rugby standings after round one play. They are followed closely by the Bristol Bears, Sale Sharks and Bath Rugby who all walked away with wins this week.

The Northampton Saints started at second on the preseason standings, but faced a draw against Exeter bumping them in the middle of the pack.

At the sold out Kingston Park game, the Saracens topped Newcastle 39-17, earning the greatest margin of victory of all round one matches. The team found tries, 33 goal kicks, 443 meters gained and 13 clean breaks. Players Nick Tompkins, who scored two tries,  and Tom Willis, who gained 69 meters and made 18 tackles, stood out. The two teams last met in May of this year, ending in another hefty margin of victory for the Saracens (47 points).

Sale topped Gloucester 27-10 to kick off the entire season at CorpAcq Stadium. Fans went wild as Sale found the first try of the game, and the PREM season, which set of their momentum for the rest of the playing time.

While the Saracens achieved the greatest margin of victory, Bath played the highest scoring game in a 47-31 win over the Harlequins.

The Bristol Bears beat the Leicester Tigers 42-24 in a solid match to finish off round one.
