Russell began his professional career with Glasgow Warriors in 2013 before moving to Racing 92, where he made over 100 appearances in the French Top 14 and Champions Cup. His performances in Paris elevated him to world-class status and earned him a reputation as a fly half unafraid to break conventions. In 2023, he joined Bath Rugby, a move that coincided with one of the club’s most successful stretches, including the 2025 treble season.

For Scotland, Russell has been indispensable since his 2014 debut against the United States. He has played in multiple World Cups, 11 Six Nations tournaments and is a consistent scoring threat with both boot and ball in hand.
