Preview: Toulon vs Saracens

Saracens remain the PREM's modern powerhouse. With six Premiership titles since 2011 and three European Cups in their trophy case, the London club has defined the last decade of English rugby.

Even after a financial scandal relegated them in 2020, they bounced back immediately, regaining their place at the top of the table. The 2022 title proved their resilience, and with Maro Itoje now captaining club and country, Saracens enter 2025–26 with another familiar figure back at the helm: Owen Farrell.

Farrell, who returned from a brief spell in France, provides leadership and control at fly-half. His presence restores Saracens’ balance between forward power and backline precision, and fans at StoneX Stadium will welcome his familiar competitive edge.

Saracens Roster and Key Players

The Saracens pack remains their backbone. Maro Itoje (No. 7 in FloRugby’s Top 100) leads from lock, supported by Nick Isiekwe and Ben Earl (No. 36), who brings unmatched versatility in the back row. Argentina’s Juan Martín González adds dynamism, while Theo McFarland provides aerial dominance.

In the backs, the return of Owen Farrell is the headline. His kicking, distribution and leadership remain elite. Elliot Daly (No. 78) brings versatility in midfield and the back three, while Lucio Cinti adds creativity at centre. Veteran Alex Goode offers experience at fullback, and Liam Williams brings game-breaking ability on the wing. With Ivan van Zyl complementing Farrell at scrum-half, Saracens once again look like one of the most complete teams in Europe.
