Gloucester Rugby enter the new season still searching for the elusive PREM title that has slipped away in near misses across the professional era.

Despite topping the table multiple times, Gloucester have never been crowned champions of England. Kingsholm, however, remains one of the most intimidating grounds in the league, and the Cherry and Whites again look capable of competing deep into the campaign.

Founded in 1873, Gloucester’s history includes winning the first-ever National Knock-Out Cup in 1972 and multiple Challenge Cup titles in Europe.

Their reputation for physical, uncompromising rugby has never disappeared, even as rivals have evolved with bigger budgets. In the professional era, they’ve produced icons like Phil Vickery and Louis Rees-Zammit, and this season’s group has the blend of youth and international experience that keeps supporters dreaming of silverware.

Gloucester Rugby Roster and Key Players

The 2025–26 Gloucester squad has strong depth in both forwards and backs. In the front row, Val Rapava-Ruskin and Jamal Ford-Robinson provide scrummaging power, while Matias Alemanno brings Argentina international experience at lock. Back rowers Lewis Ludlow and Jack Clement lead with defensive intensity.

The backline is spearheaded by scrum-half Tomos Williams (ranked No. 61 in FloRugby’s Top 100), whose pace and creativity make him a constant threat. Centres Max Llewellyn and Ollie Thorley add physicality and spark, while Ben Loader and Josh Hathaway bring try-scoring flair from the wings. Charlie Atkinson’s versatility at fly-half provides stability.
