The Exeter Chiefs know what it takes to climb to the top of English rugby. PREM champions in 2017 and 2020, and European champions in 2020, the club has built a reputation as one of the fiercest competitors of the professional era.

Though the past few years have seen fluctuating form, the Chiefs continue to produce world-class talent, with England internationals and rising stars powering the next generation.

Founded in 1871, Exeter’s rugby story has always been tied to the southwest community and Sandy Park, which has become a fortress on big match days. Hosting the New Zealand All Blacks in 1905, Exeter was the first English side to play the team that would become known as the All Blacks — an iconic moment in rugby history.

Fast forward to today, and the Chiefs remain ambitious, chasing both domestic and European honors.

Exeter Chiefs Roster and Key Players

The 2025–26 squad is brimming with depth. In the pack, Scott Sio and Josh Iosefa-Scott anchor a front row loaded with options. Locks like Dafydd Jenkins — who captains Wales internationally — and versatile forward Christ Tshiunza provide youth and athleticism. Back rowers like Jacques Vermeulen and Richard Capstick bring physicality.

In the backs, Henry Slade remains a world-class operator in the midfield, providing leadership and kicking range. Young talent like Joe Hawkins and Immanuel Feyi-Waboso adds pace and attacking spark. Scrum-halves Sam Maunder and Tom Cairns guide the tempo, while Olly Woodburn’s experience and Tom Wyatt’s finishing provide balance. Exeter’s mix of seasoned internationals and academy products means they can compete with anyone.
