Springboks Claim Victory Over Italy 42-24 In First Summer Test

South Africa Springboks notched their first victory of the 2025 summer campaign as they defeated Italy, 42-24. Recap scores, updates, and highlights.

The South Africa Springboks secured a 42-24 victory over Italy Rugby in the first of two summer tests against the Azzurri. 

The Boks dominated the first half at Loftus Versfeld, scoring four tries and leading 28-3 at halftime, with Morne van den Berg tallying two of the tries. 

However, Italy came out strong in the second half, scoring four tries of their own, including efforts from Pablo Dimcheff and Niccolò Cannone, narrowing the gap to 35-24. 

Marco van Staden sealed the win for South Africa with a late try, extending the lead to 42-24.

Springboks Defeat Italy Rugby

Final: South Africa 42, Italy 24

Certainly not the Boks best performance in the second half, but the Boks did enough in the first half to keep their lead. 

SA scored four tries in the first half and Handre Pollard made every conversion, to put up 28 points by hafltime. 

However, Italy came out with a different mindset in the last 40 minutes, scoring four tries of their own, pulling with 11 points of the Boks at one point. 

Marco van Staden scored to finally put the nail in the coffin as the Springboks win 42-24 at Loftus Versfeld.
