After winning five Super Rugby titles from 2017 to 2023, including two regional Super Rugby titles in 2020 and 2021, the Crusaders redeemed themselves in 2025 after finishing ninth on the table and missing the playoffs in 2024.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, were the runners-up in 2023 and 2024 but were beaten 41-10 by the Blues in the final a year ago.
They responded with a 11-0-3 record and finished atop the table this year, edging the Crusaders by two points, 51-49. This is the third-straight Grand Final appearance for the club from Hamilton, New Zealand.
