The Saints slipped ahead of tournament favorite Leinster Rugby in a 37-34 finish in their semifinal match in Dublin, confirmed by one more penalty kick from Northampton.
Leinster had reached the Investec Champions Cup Final three consecutive times and was favored to win each one, but Northampton prevailed within the last five minutes to block Leinster’s final try.
Despite being the underdogs, the men of the green, black and gold have been riding on their confidence for the entire season and definitely will need it if they hope to bring home their first Investec Champions Cup trophy since 2000.

Northampton successfully made it to the Investec Champions Cup Final back in 2011, but the Saints lost to Leinster in an unfortunate second-half slump, falling 33-22.
The Saints led 22-6 at halftime, yet were quickly outnumbered by Leinster, which left Northampton scoreless for the rest of the game, while racking up 27 points for itself.
Fly-half and captain Johnny Sexton allegedly gave a clear and motivating halftime speech to Leinster and went on to score 22 of those points in the second half, including two tries, three conversions and two penalties. He was named the man of the match for his profound efforts in Leinster’s comeback win.
The only time the Saints have ever won the Investec Champions Cup was in 2000.
In a thrilling, yet low-scoring matchup, Northampton toppled Munster in a 9-8 victory. Although Munster was the only one to score a try in the game, the Saints made three penalty goals, which ended up being enough to take the win.
Fresh Faces In The 2025 Finals
This year, Northampton will be facing an unfamiliar opponent, Union-Bordeaux Begles of France.
The two have never played against each other, and it is UBB's first time in the Investec Champions Cup Final.
