Ulster Rugby reportedly is in discussions with Hurricanes’ ex-New Zealand U20 international Aidan Morgan after Aaron Cruden turned down their offer for a new fly-half.

The 22-year-old Morgan, who is Irish-qualified, has found game time limited this season, with All Black Brett Cameron securing the first-choice No. 10 spot, and Ruben Love providing versatility at fullback and fly-half, Morgan has only made two appearances.

Ulster is seeking to replace Billy Burns, who is set to join Munster on a one-year deal. Morgan's potential move to Ulster could provide him with more playing opportunities and a chance to revive his career.

The Hurricanes have Morgan's bio listed on their site as:

"Aidan Morgan was a dominant feature of the Kings College 1st XV in 2019, helping secure his school its first Auckland Schools championship title in 13 years.

"A confident 1st five-eighths, Morgan has good vision and is equally as comfortable hitting the line or creating something for those outside him. Was named Player of the Match in the Auckland 1A Final.

"Morgan got his first taste of professional rugby when he joined the Hurricanes as a replacement player and played for the Hurricanes Hunters. He went on to debut for the Wellington Lions in September 2020, and was selected for the NZ U20s in 2020."
