The European Professional Rugby Championship will be decided at the 2024 Investec Champions Cup Final on May 25 at Tottenham HotSpur Stadium in London. 

And once again the final will feature teams from the French league Top 14 and the United Rugby Championship, which includes teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy and South Africa. 

Toulouse is returning to the final, while for the third year in row Leinster Rugby will represent the URC.

The United Rugby Championship was officially formed in 2021 but had been through several iterations over the decades. The modern URC was created after four South African teams, the DHL Stormers, the Vodacom Bulls, the Emirates Lions and what are now known as the HollywoodBets Sharks joined what was then known as the Guinness Pro 14. 

The Guinness Pro 14 was previously known as the Celtic League when it featured just Ireland, Scotland and Wales teams but changed when two Italian teams, Benetton and Zebre, joined the league.

The URC roots go back to 2001 and teams that are currently in the URC, such as Ulster, Leinster, Munster and Benetton all played in the first Champions Cup tournament in 1995-1996. 

The first tournament was won by Toulouse, who has won the most EPCR championships with five. The first team that is now in the URC to win a Champions Cup was Ulster in 1999.
