The Investec Champions Cup begins Dec. 8 across Europe and South Africa as 24 of some of the best rugby clubs in the world compete for the European championship. 

Established in 1995, the Champions Cup has crowned champions for almost 30 years and this year features clubs from Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, France and South Africa. The tournament includes teams from the United Rugby Championship, Top 14 and Gallagher Premiership.

The goal is to reach London’s Tottenham HotSpur Stadium in late May, where the Champions Cup Final will be played. 

But to get there, teams must manage through a 16-team playoff that follows four rounds of pool play.

Who Is In The Investec Champions Cup Rugby Pool 4?

Here are the six teams in Pool 4:

• La Rochelle (Top 14)
• Stade Francais Paris (Top 14)
• Leicester Tigers (Gallagher Premiership)
• DHL Stormers (URC)
• Leinster Rugby (URC)
• Sale Sharks (Gallagher Premiership)

2024 Investec Champions Cup Rugby Pool 4 Outlook

Can a pool get any tougher?

Pool 4 includes the two-time defending Champions Cup winners in La Rochelle. It also includes the team that La Rochelle beat in both of those games, Leinster. 

The 2022 URC champions and 2023 URC finalist DHL Stormers, one of the best South African clubs, is there while arguably the best South African player, Handre Pollard, will be playing for Leicester Tigers.   

Meanwhile Francais Paris is off to a 5-0-1 start in the Top 14 table, good for a tie for first-place. Sale Sharks was a finalist in the Gallagher Premiership in 2023. The Sale Sharks are currently 6-0-1 in the premiership and are in first-place.  

And, yes, La Rochelle and Leinster play in Round 1.
