Gloucester Rugby secured its spot in the EPCR Challenge Cup final with a resounding victory over Benetton Rugby at Kingsholm.

The Cherry and Whites thrilled their fans with a five-try spectacle, culminating in a decisive 40-25 triumph.

The hosts wasted no time in asserting their dominance, crossing the try line twice in the first half. Full-back Josh Hathaway kicked off the scoring with a display of quick thinking and agility, followed by hooker Seb Blake powering over after a strong drive from the pack.

Fly-half Adam Hastings added to the tally with a penalty and a conversion, giving Gloucester a comfortable lead at halftime.

However, Benetton Rugby refused to go down without a fight.

Fly-half Tomas Albornoz kept his side in contention with two well-taken penalties, while fullback Rhyno Smith's late try narrowed the gap to just four points heading into the break.

The second half saw Gloucester extend its lead once again, with Hastings showcasing his skills by reaching for the try line and converting his own score. Secondrow Freddie Clarke further bolstered the home side's advantage with an interception try, leaving Benetton Rugby chasing shadows.

Despite a spirited effort from the Italian club, Gloucester remained in control.

Replacement Gianmarco Lucchesi's brace of tries kept the contest alive, but a crucial penalty from scrum-half Caolan Englefield dashed any hopes of a comeback.

The match reached its climax when wing Ollie Thorley put the finishing touches on Gloucester's victory, securing the team's place in the final at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on May 24.

With their sights set on silverware, Gloucester Rugby now stand poised to take on the Hollywoodbets Sharks in what promises to be an electrifying showdown.
