HS All-Americans Complete Ontario Sweep
A recap of the 2nd 2017 game between the HS All Americans and Ontario U19s
Playing on Canada Day may have inspired the Ontario U19s to a better performance, but it wasn't enough to prevent the High School All-Americans from clinching a two-game sweep with a 22-17 win at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, on Saturday.
Having won the series' opening game on Thursday, the tourists ran out to a 19-0 lead in game two, paced by an early try from Ryan James and helped by a yellow card to Ontario. That yellow came as the HS All-Americans scored a penalty try, and then powerful prop Trent Rogers trundled over. Mike Weir converted both to make it 19-0.
Back to full strength, the Ontario Blues replied by scoring two tries before halftime to make it 19-12 at the break.
Ontario continued the surge with another try to make it 19-17 for the tourists. The HS All-Americans came back with a penalty kick from Weir to increase their lead to 22-17 when the thunder and lightning came in, and the game was suspended.

The players came back to finish up the game, but there was no further scoring. This is the second year in a row that the HSAA team has gone to Ontario and come away with two victories. This last game was probably the most intense, with cards shown to both sides and a bit of chippiness creeping in. In that context, the American team did well to close it out.
