Boys HS Spring 2018 Rankings
Huge Shifts In Boys HS Club Week #10
This week's high school club rankings got a huge shake-up. With the weather improving around the country, the Gonzaga Classic bringing a bunch of teams together, and some other clubs back from spring break, we've got plenty of results to compare.
Add a few upsets to the mix and you have a situation in which only 10 teams didn't change rank. We dropped a huge number of teams (five) from the top 50 and brought in another five (otherwise it wouldn't be a top 50).
Biggest risers and why:
United—beat No. 14 West Jordan and has been winning a lot; Lamorinda—beat Danville; Legion—very strong showing in Gonzaga Classic, including a 17-14 loss to Greenwich, played four ranked teams and beat three of them; Eastside Lions—continued strong showings in Washington; Downingtown—beat a ranked single-school team; Doylestown—we think this club is just about as good as Downingtown; Harpeth—also nudged up and here's a look at its last few weeks.
Biggest droppers and why:
Irvine—was No. 2 at one point but losing steam; West Valley—lost second game in a row, this time to unranked Provo; Rocky Rugby—lack of results; South Bay—lack of results; Cy-Fair—a bit harsh but based on a loss to a good team; Danville—loss to Lamorinda.
Five teams join the top 50 and here's why:
Aspetuck—we were going to rank this team last week and let that slip through our fingers. They have solid results and were very close with Greenwich; Provo—beat No. 7 West Valley; North Bay—undefeated in Maryland; Eastside (Oregon)—beat ranked team and now 4-0; Cougars (Northern California)—overall good season and deserve the nod.
