Could New Zealand Be Hosting The Entire 2020 Rugby Championship?

With much of the world shut down still thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, rumors are swirling that New Zealand could be home to the entire 2020 Rugby Championship. The past three weeks have seen the beginning of the Super Rugby Aotearoa, a competition involving just the four New Zealand Super Rugby franchises.

New Zealand has of course progressed to a stage where there are no more coronavirus cases left in the country, and as such they have been able to resume in large part life as it was before. Australia, meanwhile, has not seen the virus eradicate, but will nevertheless go on with the Australian Super Rugby competition which begins this weekend.

Concerns over spikes in Covid cases in Queensland and other parts of Australia means that chances of staging any games there are very slim. Ideally, the four nations -- New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Argentina -- will be able to split the ticketing proceeds and TV revenue.
