The Best Jerseys In Men's & Women's Rugby

W6N England v France Ian Muir 4.jpg

Little is cooler than sweet new rugby jersey, and each year we see brand new designs which have players looking especially fly on the field. From the high school level all the way up through the international ranks, there are thousands of awesome uniforms being sported in every country.

Here is a list of five awesome shirts that nicely top off their uniforms from around the world:

Old Glory DC | Paladin Sports

The MLR decided to go with a new jersey manufacturer in 2020, and the result was some pretty slick new kits. Perhaps the best uni in the league goes to Old Glory DC, whose navy blue tops and bottoms looked great with the red and white accenting to resemble the coloring of the American flag -- named "Old Glory."

England Women | Canterbury

If there's a word that comes to mind with the England women's kit, it would be "fresh". The white on white with the black socks is a simple but great look, and the rose patch is iconic. The all-white jersey is a classic England look, and the women pull it off brilliantly.

Saracens Men & Women | Nike

The Saracens have been arguably the best club side in the world both on the men's and women's side of rugby, and they've got the uniforms to match. For a club as ruthless as the Sarries are, the red kits are perfect; they see blood and they carve up their opposition.

Life West Women | Samurai

Life West's dark blue and green kits have one of the best color schemes, and the stars on the chest are a great touch. The gold accenting that runs up the ribcage fits well with the rest of the outfit, and the old adage that "if you look good, you play good" must be true because Life West consistently plays very well.

The All Blacks | Adidas

Nothing personifies rugby like the All Blacks, and their jersey is one of the most recognizable in all of sports. Players in New Zealand dream of donning the black from the time they first pick up a rugby ball. Not only do the jerseys look great, the all black nature of the uniform is a strong representation of the power, the cohesion, and the beauty that is All Blacks rugby.

Japan Men | Canterbury

Perhaps Japan's jerseys look extra nice because some of rugby's greatest moments ever have come from the Brave Blossoms themselves. The cherry and white coloring is beautiful, and the Japanese crest is second to none. Japan had sleek and nifty-looking jerseys, and the way they play rugby fits the appearance perfectly. They beat teams with precision and creativity, bringing down teams much bigger in size and in history than themselves. Seeing the Japanese players celebrate after beating Scotland in the World Cup to advance to the quarterfinals was a sight to behold.

There are plenty of other awesome kits in the rugby universe, but these are five ones in particular that we really liked from the past year!

MLR Nationality Breakdown By Position: New England Freejacks

New England Free Jacks

The other day I was thinking about fly-halves in the MLR -- since that is my position -- and I got to thinking how few American players there are playing fly-half in Major League Rugby. The only ones I could think of off the top of my head were Ben Cima (SEA), Scott Dean (SEA), Tadgh Leader (NE) and Zinzan Elan-Puttick (AUS) -- and it's worth noting that both Leader and Elan-Puttick grew up playing rugby in Ireland and South Africa respectively.
