The men's D1AA competition is a bit fragmented, as about half the conferences play a fall-only schedule and the other half continue on in the spring.

During this fall season, four conferences completed their campaigns, with eight teams set to move on to the fall playoffs.

Four of the eight will be automatic qualifiers who win their conference and four will be at-large bids, to be determined by the governing committee.

At the moment, we know three of the automatic bids: Bowling Green, St. Joseph's, and Virginia Tech have booked their tickets.

We await this weekend's winner between Tennessee and Kennesaw State to figure out who the last auto-qualifier is.

A number of teams are in contention for the four at-large bids, including Iowa Central Community College, Lindenwood-Belleville, Kentucky, Western Michigan, NC State, Mary Washington, and the loser of the Tennessee-Kennesaw game.

Last year's playoffs were extremely competitive, with most of the games in the quarters, semis, and finals decided by single digits. This year figures to be similar, meaning we should be in for some great games this month!
