Mike Friday and his staff have selected 16 players for this weekend's AFI 7s in Manchester. Following the 7s tournament, the players will also be competing in a 5v5 Rugby X tournament, the first of its kind.

With rolling subs permitted for the AFI 7s, it's expected that every player from the Eagles will get solid game time in this weekend.

This is a massive year for 7s with the Olympic games in Tokyo on the horizon, and breaking in as many players as possible is paramount for building depth.

The United States will be fielding a team balanced nicely with experience and youth. While stalwarts Madison Hughes, Ben Pinkelman, Martin Iosefo, and Folau Niua will be out of action, many of our stars like Danny Barrett, Perry Baker, Carlin Isles, and Stephen Tomasin will be competing.

Joining them will be a crop of newer talent, including Harley Wheeler, Cody Melphy, Ben Broselle, and Naima Fuala’au, as well as young-but-experienced players Marcus Tupuola, Kevon Williams, and Maceo Brown.

Perhaps the biggest news is the return of Eagle Maka Unufe following his year-long suspension. He is an integral part of the United States' game in both the restart and open play. Come the Olympics, Unufe is a true X-factor for us with his rare blend of skill, size, and athleticism.
