Major League Rugby has had a fairly intense week with player signings and, on Tuesday, an un-signing.

After news came out that San Diego Legion signee Steffon Armitage had been found guilty of sexual assault in the groping of a woman in Pau, France, the Legion acted quickly and rescinded his contract.

Stating that Armitage's conduct does not reflect the team's values, the team released him.

The better news for San Diego is the signing of capped scrumhalf Devereux Ferris. The longtime Life West player is an inspirational leader and will leave the club (Life West) coached by his father, Adriaan, to join the Legion.

The Austin club is looking for some positive news as well, and the club announced a new name. Out is Austin Elite and in is the Austin Herd. Sticking with the cattle-themed logo, the club is looking for a new chapter, and the name is part of that.

Austin has also been busy signing players. According to Director of Rugby Todd Clever, all of the players have been locked down, but signing announcements are coming piece by piece.

The latest is former Lindenwood flanker Michael de Waal.

That announcement that comes on the heels of the re-signing of Roland Suiula, another Lindenwood All American in Wesley White, and the signing of former All Black Frank Halai. Clever has been working his contacts.
