Canada has put on another very successful Canada 7s in Vancouver, with a big crowd at BC Place, and announcing that the tournament will return for another four years 2020-2023.

The Canadian team itself is working toward success, and certainly has had its dramatic moments (including a comeback win over Scotland). But it hasn't quite come together. Captain Harry Jones said the team is close, but needs some more full-time support (he is pushing for a full-time strength & conditioning coach).

A 10th-place finish could have been so much better, given that Canada went 2-1 on Day One. They lost out on a Cup Quarterfinals spot due to points difference. What could help? Qualification for the 2020 Olympics. That would bolster the team's funding considerably.

For Jones, 2020 is what it's all about. "That's all I have left, for me," he said. "We're just trying to set up a good platform here for not only success but which is also for the massive support we get at this stadium."
