Canada shut out Chile 56-0 to log the team's first win in the 2019 Americas Rugby Championship, thrilling the home crowd at Westhills Stadium on a chilly Friday night.

Kainoa Lloyd scored three tries on the day, all scored in the opening 40 minutes, and that, along with Kyle Baillie's tally and four conversions and a penalty from Ciaran Hearn staked Canada to a 31-0 lead.

They didn't let up in the second half and Pat Parfrey, along with two tries from wing Andrew Coe finished off the Condors. Hearn added a conversion before being subbed off for Gordon McRorie, who added another conversion and two penalties.

Coe was named player of the game, while Hearn, who played only the first half, logged his 66th cap to become tied for the 3rd-most in Canadian history.

Argentina XV meanwhile defeated their remaining challenger for the ARC title, taking down Uruguay 35-10. Captain and flanker Lautaro Bavaro scored two tries in a tough, physical encounter. A try from Uruguay scrumhalf Tomas Inciarte Rachetti pulled the Teros within a score at 14-7 with 20 minutes gone, but Argentina rolled from there.

Argentina XV now leads the ARC with a 3-0 record, with Canada and Chile left to play. Uruguay sits 2-1, and now really the chase is on for 2nd place between the Teros and whichever team wins Saturday's USA vs Brazil game.
