Spain's Redemption Tour Starts Sunday

null

Spain is on a redemption tour in this year’s Rugby Europe Championship and their Sunday clash against Georgia is the biggest test the Spaniards will face.

Last year Spain looked to be the team to beat until they went to Georgia to face the eventual REC champion. The Spaniards were beaten at set piece and the Georgians used every ounce of the home crowd energy to dig out the 23-10 win. Spain later smashed Germany at home, but the Lions were upset on the road to Belgium by 8 points.

After the 2018 championship Spain was penalized by World Rugby for fielding ineligible players.

Spain isn’t going to the World Cup. But they play like they have something to prove.

The Rugby Europe Championship is their World Cup. Watch below as Spain kept two Russian tries off the board hustling for ankle-tap tackles.

Effort plays like this secured Spain the win over World Cup-bound Russia. They'll need the same effort against World Cup-bound Georgia.

Their ultimate redemption opportunity this Sunday. If they can go into Georgia’s house and walk out victors they will take the top spot in the standings and play out their remaining difficult matches at home.

Here’s the test for Spain:

1.) Beat Georgia on the road.

2.) Beat Romania at home.

3.) Don’t choke to a weaker German or Belgian side.
