D1A Games This Weekend And Our Picks

Life University Rugby Visits FloSports HQ

This week our live coverage in college rugby takes a break, as Saint Mary's takes the weekend off and Life is on the road, but we'll be back soon.

And FloRugby will have the D1A playoffs and new D1A College 7s Championships, as well as the D1AA final and the D1AA 7s, too. But we've got some big games this weekend regardless.

Perhaps the biggest is Lindenwood vs Arkansas State in a clash of teams looking to challenge for the Mid-South title. Life is the favorite to win this conference, but any winner will have to go through a long line of ranked teams.

We pick Lindenwood for this game. Coming off a two-win weekend in Texas, the Lions feel confident.

"Everything really ran smoothly," said captain Jack Desmond. "From the warmup you could tell that the boys really came to play. The forwards ran the ball with purpose, and dominated the set pieces. The backs looked crisp and were able to exploit space with our wide options, and our stellar defensive launch left the Texas attack without much room to work with."

A-State, meanwhile, has been stuck indoors due to the weather.

“We’ve been outside twice, which isn’t ideal,” said head coach Blake White. “But, we’re very fortunate to be able to use the Student Activity Center late evenings. We’ve got a well-rounded team with youth and experience. I’m really excited to see them compete against one of the best teams in the country.”

Grand Canyon can make a statement on the road against a very good Arizona team. Utah vs UCLA is a crucial PAC conference game. While Baylor vs North Texas isn't a game of two ranked teams, UNT is probably FloRugby's #41 team and can get into the rankings with a good showing.

In the Red River, Oklahoma can clinch the North with a win against LSU.
