Longtime USA player and former captain Chris Wyles has come out of retirement to suit up for Saracens once more.

The move is temporary - Saracens needs cover for injuries and England callups - but a bit of a surprise nonetheless.

Wyles ended his pro career by scoring two tries in the Premiership final last spring, so he's still close to match fitness. The Connecticut-born, England-raised former 15s and 7s Eagle captain is 7th all-time in USA 25s caps with 54, and 4th all-time in points with 222.

He scored 375 points for Saracens in 254 appearances.

The 35-year-old trained with the club this week and will provide cover on the wings as Liam Williams and Sean Maitland are away on international duty and David Strettle, Ali Crossdale, Matt Gallagher, Rotimi Segun, and Duncan Taylor are out due to injury.

“It’s a bit surreal but I’m delighted to be back and to have the opportunity to play for Saracens again,” Wyles said. “The possibility of getting back out in front of the Allianz Park crowd and playing in front of the people who have been most supportive of me and Wolfpack is an awesome thought.”
