Men College Player Of The Week And D1AA Standouts

This week we're combining our Player Of The Week and our Standouts, as the D1AA playoffs come closer.

And a team that many think could win it all in the D1AA fall season just beat a team many think could win it all in D2. Lindenwood-Belleville took it to a very good Wisconsin-Whitewater team 48-5. Leading the way is  Coleson Warner for the Lynx. The Lindenwood-Belleville backs captain is usually the team's flyhalf, but he slotted in at center against Whitewater and was excellent, scoring two tries and setting up several others.

"He led a great defensive effort against a pretty dangerous opposing backline," added head coach Chris Lippert.

The junior out of the Rugby Idaho system has all the tools, said Lippert, and the head for the game, too.

Warner is our Men's College Player Of The Week.

Meanwhile, here are some others who stood out in D1AA

Mark Murphy, Iowa State

The Cyclones beat rival Iowa 39-5 in conference action, and No. 8 Murphy scored two tries in the effort.

Tamilor Awonusi, Mary Washington

UMW is chugging along and winning rugby games and when they do, they get to unleash six-foot-seven wing Awonusi, who is from Ireland, and provides a unique blend of height, pace, and elusiveness. Like this:

Christopher Marcelin, James Madison

JMU put itself back in the conversation on playoffs with a 38-32 defeat of Mount St. Mary's. Marcelin scored two tries in the victory.

Brian Radcliff, Georgia

While Georgia lost to Alabama, the scoreline, 29-20, was way, way closer than Georgia has been in a while. Radcliff, who plays wing, scored two of Georgia's three tries.

Alwin Smith, Brown

The Bruno scrumhalf scored a try in the 79th minute to turn a 33-31 deficit into a 36-33 Brown victory over Harvard in Ivy League action. It was Smith's second try of the day.

Juwan Johnson and Tejas Godbole, Oregon State

These two centers have been at the center of Oregon State's resurgence and against Boise State on Saturday, the two combined for 44 points as Johnson scored four tries, Godbole two, and Godbole added seven conversions. Oregon State won 66-36.

Nick Ballas, St. Joseph's

St. Joe's held off West Chester in a preview of the conference final, and Ballas, who plays prop, was a monster on the day both in the set piece and in open field, where he tested the WCU defense and scored a try.
