Just as the USA Men's National Team is getting set to name its squad for the fall internationals, some bad news.

USA and Sale flyhalf AJ MacGinty has had surgery on his shoulder and has been ruled out of the rest of the year. This is a recurrence of an injury suffered while MacGinty was playing with the USA team in June.

After some attempts to strengthen the shoulder through rehab, the club decided surgery was the best option.

Sale Sharks Director of Rugby Steve Diamond said that MacGinty has had surgery, and added that his anticipated return will be in around twelve weeks time and the club sends its best wishes to him for a speedy and complete recovery.”

This means MacGinty will not play for the USA in November, and that's a huge blow. He was the Eagles' best player in the summer and sparked a historic victory over Scotland. His kicking accuracy, attacking flair, and defense all set him apart as a flyhalf.

While the Eagles do have options in the #10 jersey, those players will have much to do to fill MacGinty's shoes.
