Entering into the final day of competition at the Rugby Sevens event at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, hosts Argentina, France, and Japan lead the boys competition, and New Zealand, France, and Canada look good among the girls.

This is a round-robin event, with teams playing the other five over the course of three days, and then one more game for placement.

Boys Bracket

For the USA boys, it's been a weird couple of days, with two losses and two ties. So even though the Americans haven't won a game, they are still not last.

The USA opened up with a shutout loss to a powerful French squad, and then came back in the second half to tie Japan 17-7. Jasper Green, Isaiah Kruse, and Sione Maher scored the tries, with Mahe converting one. Then they lost 19-12 to South Africa, with Kruse and Mahe scoring the points.

In the final game of Day Two, the USA came back once again, this time to secure a 24-24 tie with Samoa. Tyren Al-Jiboori and Inoke Waqavesi both scored two tries. Mahe and Jon Rodriguez each kicked a conversion.

Meanwhile, Argentina is currently 4-0, with France 3-1 and right behind. Japan, at 2-1-1, is still in with a shot at the final, and certainly for a medal.

Standings:
Argentina 4-0 (12pts)
France 3-1 (10pts)
Japan 2-1-1 (9pts)
South Africa 1-3 (6pts)
USA 0-2-2 (6pts)
Samoa 0-3-1 (5pts)

Left for Monday's games:

USA vs Argentina, South Africa vs Samoa, and France vs. Japan.

The France vs Japan game will decide which of those teams makes the final. Argentina can afford to lose to the USA, who need to win to have a shot at Bronze. The USA will want that victory and for Samoa to beat or tie South Africa in order to have a shot at a medal.

Girls Action

The New Zealand girls team has been almost unstoppable, going 4-0 and scoring 137 while allowing only 22. Canada got five of those points against, and France 12, but the young Kiwis are in 1st place.

France and Canada won the rest of their games and make those creating the seeds look good as they now play Monday for a place in the final.

Standings:
New Zealand 4-0
France 3-1
Canada 3-1
Colombia 1-3
Kazakhstan 1-3
Tunisia 0-4

Meanwhile, Colombia can secure a place in the Bronze Medal match with a win over Tunisia on Monday. Kazakhstan still has to play New Zealand.
