Last week was rough on FloRugby's D1 college picks. We were only 72 percent after a series of minor (and major) upsets.

However, oddly, we're getting better at predicting the margin of victory, and in the 26 games we got right (not counting games postponed, forfeited, or suspended), we got the margin of victory right two-thirds of the time. That's actually pretty good given that if a game is a blowout, scores can get out of control. We tend not to predict wins by more than 50.

Anyway, that was an interesting week, and this week is one also.

Chesapeake

The big chase if for second and third, because those two teams play off for a potential spot in the national playoffs. JMU, Maryland, Towson, and Virginia Tech are all in must-win situations here.

SCRC

Alabama looks for real, but can't falter against Auburn.

NCRC

Now we're cooking. Western Washington has major aspirations. Washington is back in the fold. Those two have an excellent rivalry going. Everyone should watch out for Washington State, but right now, we need to see if WWU can handle Boise State at home.

Independent

Lindenwood-Belleville's win over Wisconsin might have done most of the job to get the Lynx an at-large spot in the D1AA playoffs, but it's this week's game against Kentucky that could seal the deal. If L-B wins or comes very close, then it's proof the Lynx deserve a playoff spot. Play poorly, and there's a question mark.

Liberty

Iona already beat AIC on Thursday, and the good news for Iona is that 6 Watson Filikitonga is back on the field and scored four tries.

Syracuse can put a stranglehold on the Empire division with a win over a very tough Binghamton team.

Big Ten

Who's the best of the lower tier? Purdue or Michigan State? We find out this weekend.

Rugby East

The league title is probably down to Army or Penn State and those two ... don't play each other. Penn State has to take care of Kutztown first, and that's not a guarantee.

Rocky Mountain

Colorado State can establish dominance in the Rocky Mountain with a win over Air Force.
