The road to the D1AA Fall Final or a place in the D1A playoffs continues with a weekend of about 50 games in major men's college rugby.

Last week, FloRugby was relatively successful in picking winners, getting it right 78% of the time. We missed on eight games - Fordham tying AIC in a game where we thought AIC would win, and the rest were legit upsets across the board, most of them close (although Ohio over Miami by 51 was a total shock to just about everyone).

If you want some details on the conferences, you see more on the shakeup in the Rocky Mountain, how close the Chesapeake is, and the ups and downs in the MAC.

But here are some thoughts on the other conferences:

D1AA Heart of America

Way to early to tell here, but it's worth pointing out that Kansas flyhalf Trenton Tayrien scored 25 points on Truman State with a try and ten conversions. Kansas State's win over Nebraska was much, much closer, and UNL might be a team to keep an eye on.

D1AA MARC

West Chester produced a bit of a surprise, but this week we're fairly certain that the home teams will produce. The new format in this league has all seven teams playing each other (rather than being split into conferences). This will be a better test for everyone and should produce a decent playoff. St. Joe's is the top team right now, but West Chester and Rowan could chase the Hawks down.

D1AA SCRC

This week it gets really-real. Tennessee and Kentucky could be a pick'em game but we have too many of those already. That clash, along with Alabama at South Carolina, gives us a good preview of who might come out on top. (We don't have Kennesaw State's visit to Life on our list because it's really more of a scrimmage.)

D1AA Ivy League

Dartmouth is in charge. The only question is, who will be 2nd? Penn had a really good week last week, and the game against Harvard is a big one.

Other D1AA

Last week Idaho forfeited to Washington State, so we're not holding our breath about this game happening. We'll see. Independent team Lindenwood-Belleville hosts MTSU and needs to win that game to have any hope of being an at-large playoff team.

D1A Liberty

There were so many interesting results in Liberty last week, not least of which was Fordham and AIC tying. 

Of note: UMass getting tries from Abdul Muqeet and Carl Gillies to pull away from Northeastern; two Albany tries within ten minutes of each other (David Salvadori and Joseph Duffy) doing all the damage in a 10-5 win over Colgate; UConn needing Shane Palmer's try at 62 minutes to hold off Fairfield; and James O'Sullivan scoring two tries within moments of each other to make sure Cortland beat Oswego.

The upshot of all of this is that Syracuse and Albany are surprises at 2-0, Fordham leads the I-95 Conference, and Connecticut has done just enough to stay on top.

D1A Big 10

We'll see how far the Purdue train can roll, but likely Indiana will slow the Boilermakers' engine down somewhat. Wisconsin has to win against Michigan to be in conference contention. 

D1A Rugby East

Penn State actually plays a non-conference crossover with Ohio State. But watch out for the Lions. They have been working hard on defense and with their halfbacks working together nicely can win games even when the attack isn't singing a pretty tune 

Head coach Justin Hundley said, "every game, every team is getting tougher." That seems to bear out. This week, Kutztown at Army is a big question mark. Kutztown hasn't really played, and Army is much more in mid-season mode. And yet, KU has such a quick-strike ability you wonder if the Bears could do something.

D1A Red River

Texas got hit hard last week, and is suffering from injuries, so this week's game with Arkansas State in a non-league clash won't be particularly easy. Arkansas looked good in winning 42-13 over Texas Tech. Tyson Lucas and Alex Rees are two Texas HS products who form one of the better halfback combos in the business.

Hosting Oklahoma, Arkansas could find itself 2-0.
