Massive D1 College Weekend So Our Picks Should Be Better

Massive D1 College Weekend So Our Picks Should Be Better

FloRugby looks at the weekend in D1 college rugby.

Brown Scores For A&M

A massive weekend of D1 men's college rugby hits us this weekend with over 40 games ... maybe FloRugby can be a little better in the prediction department.

Last week we were only at 71%, getting 20 out of 28 winners. This includes two pick 'em games that actually weren't close, so we say we're wrong there.

This week, it's a fairly quiet week in the Rugby East but a two-game Big 10 weekend actually has huge implications. We've got Mary Washington at Navy - that's a wild one and a game to note and it will be interesting to see how navy handled 6-6 wing Tamilore Awonusi. Iona is at Army, and Notre Dame takes on Ohio State. These are excellent non-conference matchups.

Note - we said the Rocky Mountain games were non-conference because that's how they are in D1A's official schedule. This is actually a tagging mistake from someone. They are conference games.

Texas faces Texas A&M in a repeat of the final game of the regular season. UT is an interesting team in that the coaching staff has been working hard to get the Longhorns back to prominence. They started well and finished well; we'll see how they handle themselves in a full season in the second season under Zac Mizell.

Dartmouth at Harvard is an Ivy League game we'd actually like to see a little bit later in the fall, but this is as close to an early conference decider as you're going to get.

Davenport is quietly building a pretty darn good team under new coach Lance Hohaia. Western Michigan is a solid D1AA team, but Davenport will give them trouble.

Oh, and Thursday night it's a battle of Liberty contenders.
