Top 7 Tackles From USA vs Scotland

When we last saw Ben Landry, he was helping the USA beat Canada in June and cementing his spot as an effective combination lock flanker with the Eagles.

While Landry hasn't been a regular starter for the USA, he has been in the spotlight a couple of times, including a weird substitution back-and-forth when he ran on against Scotland.

Did The Ref Get The Subs Question Right?

But that wasn't Landry's best moment against the Scots. That happened in the video above, when he combined with Shaun Davies to stop a sure try and help preserve the famous 30-29 victory.

"It was hard to catch the flow of the game when I first got in," Landry remembered. "I was pretty amped up and was running all around. Which luckily put me in the right position to make a play on the ball when Scotland broke the line."

And then he got a good look at what he'd accomplished with that one play.

"It was a pretty great feeling seeing the playback on the big screen when they replayed it for the TMO," he added.

Landry played rugby for the USA age-grades and went on to play for Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he was an All-American. A brief stint training with the Seattle Seahawks as a tight end interrupted his rugby career before he joined the Seattle Saracens (and later Seawolves).

Now, the big forward is in Ealing, on the western edge of Greater London, playing for the Ealing Trailfinders in The Green King Rugby Championship. He's teammates with fellow USA player Andrew Durutalo and suited up for the first time since being sidelined with an injury.

It all worked out perfectly as Landry started at lock and played 60 minutes, helping the Trailfinders to a crucial 36-31 victory over London Scottish.

"Had a great run around this weekend," enthused the 6-6 lock. "It was my first game back from injury and it was really good to get back out there."

That's good news for Ealing and the USA. Landry is a superbly mobile big man and can offer the Eagles several options at second row or on the flank. Lok for him to build on his 15 Eagles caps this fall.
