College Freshman Of The Week: Cam DiGiorio, Iona College
Christian Brothers product Cam DiGiorio surprised even his coaches with a big game against UMass.

The great thing about bringing in a freshman class is that these players can surprise you in short order, even when they're expected to perform well — enter Cam DiGiorgio.
Among one of seven freshmen who started for Iona in the Gaels' 59-10 defeat of University of Massachusetts, DiGiorgio led from the front at openside flanker and is our College Freshman Of The Week.
"He played very well," said head coach Bruce McLane. "He is an excellent tackler, with a high work rate, and we knew that. But he also added an offensive dynamic that we didn't expect."
The 6-foot-2, 205-lb flanker from Christian Brothers Academy in New Jersey has a good attitude, makes good decisions, and is a good athlete; he was also an accomplished wrestler in higher school. But the unexpected was that he showed he can carry the ball with authority.
Watch for DiGiorio to continue to play a key role in the Iona lineup, and expect him to be used in more ways, especially in the lineout.
