The University of Buffalo kicked off its 2018-19 season nicely with a well-taken 45-16 win over SUNY Cortland, and in the middle of that performance was captain and scrumhalf Mike Cornacchio.

While junior No. 8 Owen Lawther was on fire (in a good way) after coming back from knee surgery, and prop Will Burke was also superb, FloRugby is selecting Cornacchio as our Men's College Player Of The Week.

There is no doubt that Conracchio is the captain of the team. He came into this, his final season at UB, having worked hard in the offseason to be fit and strong.

"He has grown nicely into his leadership role," said Buffalo head coach Mike Hodgins. "His pass has improved and so has his read of the game and his decision-making. On the field he is leading from the front, and is proving to be an offensive threat as well as a solid defender."

Buffalo has a tough road ahead of it in the Rugby East, but with Cornacchio snapping at the heels of the Bulls forwards, they won't be backing down.
