Sevens qualifier weekend is here and here's how some of the tournaments have finished up.

Can-Ams

The Can-Am Tournament in Ferndale, WA, hosted by the Chuckanut Bay Rugby Club, finished off with the Washington Athletic Club taking the men's bracket with a 17-0 defeat of Boise, and ORSU upsetting the Washington Athletic Club women's team 24-12.

WAC and ORSU pretty much dominated the women's bracket, and played an exciting final. ORSU, which has plenty of talent and experience with the likes of  San Juanita Fetuuaho and summer additions such as Emma Eikermann won the Roy Lucas 7s and took down a very solid WAC team.

On the men's side, Boise is a new team to watch. WAC scored over 100 points against its five pool and playoff opponents, taking down Bayside 32-5 in the semis. Boise lost an early game to the Westside Ronin, but beat Bayside (who also beat Westside), and then made it to the final.

Boise Men's Select is a combined team of Snake River and 43rd State Crimson Lions players. Several have not played sevens before this year. The Boise Selects first run-out was the Men's Open division at the Las Vegas Invitational, which the team won.

Determined to spin the ball and work the sidelines, Boise tried to outpace a physical WAC team, but WAC was fit enough to hang in there and score three tries to win.

There's still plenty of sevens to be played as both the men and women's top levels are shooting for a spot in the Pacific North finals in Tacoma, WA.

Legacy 7s

In Brighton, MI, the Chicago Lions and Metropolis sent teams to the final of both the men's and the women's qualifier. Metropolis won a contentious men's final, while the Lions took the women's final.

By making the final, Metropolis women stay in 1st in the Midwest with 23 points, but Chicago is now right behind with 22. In the men's standings, Metropolis stays in 1st with two tournament wins and 24 points, with Chicago behind at 22 points.

Showdown At The Shore

Old Blue defeated NYAC to win the men's qualifier in Monmouth, NJ in the Northeast. Old Blue leads the Northeast and has all but clinched a spot at nationals.

New York Rugby Club won its second tournament in the women's qualifier, dominating the competition and only being scored on twice.

Monk Vaughan 7s

The Mid-Atlantic chase for a title in the Men's Qualifier division has gone back and forth between Schuylkill River and Beltway. Both won close victories over the other in previous tournaments, and this time around it was Beltway's turn, taking a 22-21 victory on the last play of the game.

Both finalists fairly rolled through their opposition to the final, although Beltway did tie Washington RFC 19-19 in the final pool game. Still, the Elite beat NOVA 41-5 in the semis. Schuylkill went 3-0 in pool play (92 points for, 22 against), and beat Rocky Gorge 26-5 in the semi. Rocky Gorge went on to take 3rd.

Beltway's U23s won the Men's Open 19-14 over Schuylkill River. There was no women's qualifier as most of those teams were at Cape Fear.

Frontier 7s

The Frontier region women's qualifier season has only two tournaments, and this was one of them. The Kansas City Jazz took 1st in the five-team event (KC Jazz, Rocky Mountain Magic, Black Ice, She-Wolves, and Magicians) and will have the inside track on a qualification spot as the next tournament is the Jazz's home event - the Heartland 7s.
