It comes as no surprise Bulldog rugby is at the top of the Frontier men's club 7s qualification standings as a majority of the team's roster is coming off collegiate 7s national championships this spring.

Bulldog defeated the tournament host Denver Barbarians in the Barbarian 7s final. Led by coach Stephen Lewis, the team could well be a favorite going into the 2018 Club 7s National Championships. Take a look at their roster and you'll see why:

Lorenzo Thomas. Lindenwood. Capped for USA in 15s and played sevens for the All-Americans. Won a 2018 USA Rugby 7s Championship and the CRC with Lindenwood.

Christian Rodriguez. Lindenwood. Won a 2018 USA Rugby 7s Championship and the CRC with Lindenwood.

Juan Romero. Lindenwood. Won a 2018 USA Rugby 7s Championship and the CRC with Lindenwood.

Michael Basnett. UNC Charlotte. Won a 2018 Division II USA Rugby 7s National Championship and was MVP.

Tyrek Huntley. UNC Charlotte. Won the USA Rugby DII sevens title with UNC Charlotte.

Harley Wheeler. Life University. Won the 2018 D1A title with the Running Eagles.

Marcus Tupuola. Notre Dame College. Won the fall 2016 fall D1AA title with NDC.

Malon Al-Jiboori. Already capped for the USA in sevens and, new this year, 15s.

Tim Stanfill. Capped for the USA in 15s.

Jihad Khabir. American International College. A sevens Collegiate All-American.

Corey Jones. Arkansas University and Atlantis Selects

This group is highly accomplished and with Al-Jiboori and Thomas setting the tone up front, Khabir and Tupuola setting things up in the middle, and the likes of Wheeler and Rodriguez finishing things off, they have the goods. Stanfill, who played for OMBAC in the PRP this season, is the oldest among them and he will bring leadership.

The Frontier Region has two more qualifier tournaments this summer, July 14 and July 28. The top three teams in the region qualify for nationals. Another strong showing in the next round should secure a spot at nationals for Bulldog.
