The USA and Scotland have an on-the-field history that's sometimes boiled over into a pretty nasty rivalry (see the game they played in 2002).

While maybe that's cause enough to watch the next meeting between the two national teams at 8 PM CT Saturday in Houston, here are five more reasons to tune into USA vs. Scotland LIVE on FloRugby.

It Has To Happen Sometime

The USA has never beaten a Tier 1 nation. The Eagles have come close, and, yes, they did beat France twice in the Olympics in the 1920s... but we're talking about the modern era. Since 1976, the USA has knocked on the door against Wales, Ireland, South Africa (2001), France (2004), England (2007), and, if you're counting Argentina, then also Argentina.

And Scotland has been pushed a bit, too. This is a very good USA team that could finally achieve its Tier 1 breakthrough win on Saturday at BBVA Compass Stadium.

A Bit Of History

In 1991, the Eagles were thumped fairly convincingly by Scotland, but if you can find that game, it's worth a look. Remember Tony Ridnell? He's the guy in the bow tie who has been lambasting the now outgoing USA Rugby Board and calling for a massive change in the sport's governorship. Well, if you're thinking, "who is this guy?" watch USA vs. Scotland from 1991, one of Ridnell's finest moments in a fine rugby career.

Future Lions?

Yes, some of the Scottish players are young, but they are talented. Many have had to pitch-up for Glasgow, as the Warriors were smacked with injuries. A 19-year-old No. 8? Matt Fagerson is a stud and could well be a major star you're watching on a British and Irish Lions tour in short order. Adam Hastings? Lewis Carmichael? We may be seeing only the beginning.

Eagles Have Stars, Too

Samu Manoa is a world-class player. AJ MacGinty is as good a No. 10 as you'd want. Paul Lasike could just about be the most fearsome center in the game. Hanco Germishuys is still a kid—he's only 21—and he's already a leader. These are players to be celebrated.

2002 And 2015

In 2002, Scotland beat the USA 65-23 in an ugly game that had moments of fun but also a player with a broken ankle getting punched, a red card, some yellows, and lots of bad feelings. That was a nasty game, and the Eagles could perhaps get a small measure of vengeance for it by winning Saturday.

How about emulating that first 40 minutes from the 2015 World Cup? The Eagles bashed Scotland side to side and led going into the locker rooms. That's how the USA wins.

Pride

This will be the last time the USA men's national 15s team plays another national team until next year. This is an opportunity to prepare for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. This is when our best play your best and we sing the anthems beforehand. There's something to be said for pride.
