At Women's CRC: Top Four And Then What?
At Women's CRC: Top Four And Then What?
A look at the Women's CRC bracket.

The Collegiate Rugby Championship invitational kicks off in Chester, PA, this weekend and the women's competition, once an afterthought, could argue that it's as high profile as the men's tournament at this point.
However, a field of big-name teams doesn't necessarily always translate into competitive matchups, and the issue this year—once again—will be if anyone can challenge the top contenders.
Watch Full Replays: USA Rugby College Sevens Championships
POOL A
Life, Virginia Tech, Bloomsburg, Drexel
Like all the pools, the chase might well be for second and a place in the quarterfinals, given that the top team—in this case, Life—is light years ahead of the rest of the group. The team to watch out for? Bloomsburg, which could make a nice rush to the Plate. But Life has serious plans on winning it all.
Led by Kaitlyn Broughton, Alex Sedrick, and Sydnee Cervinski, the Running Eagles can play in the open field with anyone and should crush all before them in this pool.
POOL B
Lindenwood, Virginia, Boston, Delaware
Even more so than in Pool A, it's the leader (Lindenwood) and the rest. Virginia is likely the second team that will advance from the group, but the favored Lions, already the USA Rugby champions, will dominate.
McKenzie Hawkins has a date a week later to receive her Sorensen Award as the top women's college rugby player in the nation. Carin De Freitas broke out as a true talent. And the entire LU squad is just working together nicely right now. No contest.
POOL C
Penn State, Navy, Kutztown, Clemson
If there's a Pool of Death, it's probably this one, as Navy and Kutztown are far from easy matchups for Penn State. But is anyone betting against PSU? While this pool will test the Nittany Lions, their squad is made nicely for sevens, with Tess Feury leading a very capable and athletic group.
POOL D
NSCRO Women, Notre Dame, Temple, East Stroudsburg
This is a weird pool because you can argue that none of these teams would finish second in the other three pools. NSCRO has performed well, but as a compilation team should it even be in this tournament? It's a legitimate question.
But, since NSCRO is in the field, it enters as the favorite in this group. The chase for second is wide open.
What this tells us all, though, is that there are maybe five very strong teams and the rest are chasing the consolation bracket. The tournament will very likely come down to Lindenwood and two teams it just recently beat, Life and Penn State. And judging from those results at the USA Rugby Collegiate Sevens Championships, Lindenwood is far and away the strongest team.
