The D1A playoff seedings come down to four crucial games this Saturday, as the results could have a distinct effect on who plays whom in next week's round of 16.

All rankings listed are the official D1A rankings as voted on by coaches and media, including this writer. We're showing the official D1A rankings instead of FloRugby's rankings because they have a bearing on the playoff seedings.

#3 Cal at #1 Saint Mary's | WATCH LIVE

There's reason to think the top-ranked Gaels might be a little beat up after a difficult tour of Italy. Cal should be rested and ready ahead of Saturday's 1 PM PDT kickoff at Saint Mary’s Stadium in Moraga, CA.

Should Saint Mary's win, the Gaels will hold onto their No. 1 ranking. Should Cal win, it's likely the Bears will be No. 1, but there could be a situation in which Cal moves instead to No. 2 and current No. 2 Life moves up to No. 1.

It's all very fluid.

Asked whether the D1A seedings make this rivalry even more of a big deal, Cal head coach Jack Clark said "not really." So maybe the game itself is the thing.

#14 San Diego State at #16 Cal Poly

The winner of this game will likely take the No. 15 or No. 16 seed into the competition. The loser is probably out. Cal Poly is 2-2 but played Saint Mary's and Arizona very close in recent weeks and seems to be improved.

San Diego State is 3-1. The two teams have essentially the same records. They have blown out the same teams and played the same opponents tough. Both have close losses to Grand Canyon and Arizona. Both lost big to Cal. SD State was hit hard by Saint Mary's, whereas Cal Poly hung in there. However, Cal Poly lost to UC Davis, and SD State beat the Aggies.

This will be a tight one.

#4 BYU at #15 Central Washington

The Cougars will likely hold onto their No. 4 ranking with a victory and could fall with a loss. Central needs to look good here, even in a loss, to get the final No. 16 seed in the playoffs. A bad performance by the Cougars, whose playoff credentials consist of a close-ish loss to Lindenwood and a win over Utah Valley, would drop the Wildcats out of top 16 contention.

Baylor vs. Texas A&M | WATCH LIVE

This game will be played at 5 PM CDT on Saturday in Austin, Texas, for the Red River Conference title. It's really easy: The winner gets in the playoffs and the loser goes home.

The Red River hasn't had enough nationwide success to guarantee its second-place team in the playoffs (and really only the PAC, Rugby East, and Mid-South can be sure of that luxury).

This will be a very close matchup pitting a multi-skilled Baylor pack against an exciting A&M team.

Who Else Is Watching?

Eleventh-ranked Arkansas State and No. 12 Grand Canyon will watch all of this very carefully because a strong performance by Central Washington and/or Cal Poly or San Diego State could bump one or both of those teams out of contention.
