The Utah Valley University men's rugby team has been informed that it is ineligible to play in the D1A postseason.

D1A Rugby Commissioner Kevin Battle informed UVU head coach Adam Griffee that the Wolverines fielded players who were not full-time, not in good standing, or had exceeded their eligibility.

After a long period of documentation being asked for and searched for and explanations provided, it was decided that UVU would not be eligible for the postseason.

Most, if not all, of Utah Valley's violations occurred during the fall season, and it appears that Griffee learned a great deal about the paperwork side of D1A rugby and sat players rather than hope their waivers would come through or their transcripts were in order.

However, the changes weren't enough, and Griffee opted not to appeal.

The D1A playoff field will be finalized at the conclusion of the regular season this Saturday. The tournament gets underway with the round of 16 on Saturday, April 14. The national title game takes place May 5 at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, CA.
